The first day of a new year. A fresh start, time for resoles and possibilities. But also a time for consideration and awareness.

The second day of the new year. One of three colleagues suggested a challenge to launch a website with great fun to visit. All three had some experience building websites or where involved in the creation process around it. But what would people like and how do you make a difference?

One of three suggested his idea to use humans curiosity in other people. What do other people do? And why do they make certain decisions? The second colleague suggested to give it a social theme and to use something what involves a lot of people. A busy morning at work was waiting all three of us, but we could not leave the thought of this ambitious challenge we all wanted to participate in.

The third day of the new year, January 3th 2007. Still brainstorming where this website should go about. A social theme could also be a social problem, like global warming. That involves not only a lot of people, it involves every living organism on the entire planet. But how would we make a difference. As we all know there are websites enough about global warming. And if we would want to succeed in the challenge this website needs to make a difference!

To make a website about global warming popular to visit, a hype or even better the talk of the planet. The idea was born to link the social problem to the traveling gnome prank of the 80’s. People would have to participate in the Gnome Adventure to make it succeed. Spreading and creating awareness of one of the biggest social problem we all face, person for person. And a central place to read all about it.
