Clock tower In The Netherlands, this sunday afternoon, over 800 church bells will sound. This is the moment that bisschop Desmond Tutu will be offering about 300.000 climate promises to Yvo de Boer, president of the VN-Climate buro. At the same moment, a large oecumenic church visit will end at Copenhagen, where the climate will be the main topic.
In The Netherlands, organisations like ICCO and kerk in actie have gathered about 30.000 climate promises, signed by dozens of local chirch boards.
Citizens around the world have signed these to promise to be more caring for the environment in the way they live.
They also want the urge the leaders in Copenhagen to prepare an honest and effective agreement.

Also in the rest of the world, church bells will sound at 3 o'clock. At Fiji, the bells will sound first and Copenhagen will be last.
